This is our first year in Chicago, away from all of our family, so I wanted to do something special for Cosmo on Father’s Day. We don’t have any actual human children, however we do have a dog, a crazy German Shorthaired Pointer named Benny. I absolutely consider him to be our child… Anyone who has ever owned a dog can attest that they are a lot of work… Dogs need your time, love and support just as children do. I wanted to make something for Cosmo (Benny’s human Dad) to show my appreciation for all of his help in raising Benny over the past 2 years.
I first thought I would frame an old picture of the two of them, but then I thought “How stinking cute would it be if I made a print of his nose?!?” So I googled it for inspiration… nope nothing! So I am writing this post to inspire you, so that you know exactly how to make this spectacular gift for your dog’s dad. =) I went to the art store and bought safe non-toxic ink, colored archival paper, a frame and a custom cut mat board. I LOVE small pictures with a lot of mat around them, so that it what I chose. When I got home, I took Benny outside because I thought it might get messy… Really only I got messy struggling with my gazelle of a dog. He didn’t hate it, he just wasn’t sure what was going on. Anyways, I rubbed the ink pad on his little nose then pressed it against a piece of paper. TADA! I did it a few times to get it just how I wanted – I may try again because another print was very close to my favorite so you can see it in the final product. Good luck!!!
I know by posting this everyone will now know that I am one of those crazy dog owners. You know the one that can only speak to animals in a strange high-pitched tone, refers to their dog as their baby, or says their dog is their favorite person on earth… “hmmm,” you say, “a dog is definitely not a person!” Yep, the truth is I 100% love our dog… even though when he was a puppy he destroyed thousands (yes, thousands) of dollars worth of our precious belongings and furniture. He really is my favorite person – um, living being on earth! (besides Cosmo – his human dad, who this post is really for). Happy Father’s Day, Cosmo! We both love you so much!!!
