Your wedding day is one the most magical days of your life. What a lot of couples don’t foresee is just how many details go into planning the big day. When Cosmo and I got married, we considered not hiring a wedding photographer (much to my planner friends’ dismay). We were trying to keep it low key and I’ve been to so many of these, blah, blah, blah. Nope. Everything proved more difficult than I first anticipated. I highly suggest avoiding the stress of organizing all the little details by hiring a wedding planner. I’ve compiled five reasons to hire a wedding planner so nobody else is left scrambling!
1. They’ve done this before (hundreds of times)
In most cases, this is your first time planning a wedding. When you don’t know much about a topic, it’s great to consult an expert. (When I buy a car I talk to my dad. Hahah) Having somebody there to help you along the way that does this almost every weekend is the perfect type of expert! From knowing how long to allot for hair and makeup appointments to coordinating transportation for wedding guests, it’s helpful to bounce ideas off someone who has more experience than you might.
2. They help the day run smoothly.
From perfect timelines to dealing with the little and big issues of the day, wedding planners ensure that your day runs as planned. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a mishap or something go array and the planner is there to handle it before the bride even knows something happened! How amazing is that? Planners ensure that all vendors are on the same page through out the day and, for example, the first dance isn’t being announced in the middle of salad service!
3. Your friends and family should just focus on the day.
Even a small task can distract from the main event – you marrying the love of your life. The last thing that your mom wants to do on your wedding day is set up 200 escort cards and make sure every place setting has a menu and isn’t missing a fork. You’re family and friend’s only focus should be on watching you walk down the aisle, dance the night away and enjoy your wedding!
4. They are connected to Vendors
Wedding planners know awesome vendors and care about pairing you with the best fit for your style and needs. The network that planners have at their disposal is unreal! Planners (at least the ones I work with!) always do their best to match you to vendors that are the perfect fit for your budget and style. Having a wedding for less than 100 guests? There are caterers that specialize in that! Want a DJ that comes with a professional drummer? Theres a company for that! Having an expanded network that planners provide will prove invaluable and make your wedding just that much more unique!
5. They’re there to bounce ideas off of.
When you and your fiance are tied between two menu font colors, they can be there to break that tie. When you just can’t decide what gift to get for your bridesmaids, they can be there to help advise. The list goes on and on, but ultimately, they are a friend who is there throughout the entire process to make sure that you don’t get stressed out when it comes to all the little decisions that truly make the big day!
