Casey and Thomas’s Elder Beach engagement session in Winnetka, IL, was an incredible chance to get to know two wonderful people before their wedding.

They met in college, at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, where they had mutual friends and started hanging out during their freshman year. It wasn’t until their sophomore year that they took the next step and started dating, and they have been together ever since!

The two of them told me that they love each other’s laughs and senses of humor more than anything else. That was certainly the case as we walked along the beach together trying to find the most magical settings for pictures. They are so sweet and fun to photograph. This adorable couple loves to make each other smile and laugh, making my job ten times easier with such natural, beaming grins! With the backdrop of the beach making it look almost like we were in a tropical destination (instead of Chicago), I couldn’t have asked for a better engagement session!

In keeping with their hilarious senses of humor, the two of them told me their funniest story together: Casey and her friends had thrown a party for Thomas, as well as 3 others who had birthdays around the same time. Everyone came together for a huge gathering at her senior year house at Bucknell, with cakes all around to celebrate. Casey was carrying the biggest one as they looked around trying to find one of the “birthday boys” . . . when she took one step forward and face-planted on the ground with the cake! It was so embarrassing, but they all laughed it off—and later that night, Casey got to laugh all over again when she caught one of her roommates eating the last of the cake that had been placed on the counter after it was cleaned up off the floor.
