Meri and Matt were married on a beautiful, sunny day on July 3^rd, with a ceremony and reception at the Chicago History Museum.

This location was particularly important to Meri and Matt because, while they currently live in New York City, they met in Chicago. The couple wanted to honor that special memory when they got married with their Chicago History Museum wedding photos. I love when couples pick a location that truly means something to them, as it makes the whole day ring with that much more heartfelt emotion even in details as small as the surroundings.

It was a bright, sunny day in July, but the temperature was perfect as I met up with Meri and Matt for some “getting ready” pictures. We started out together at Westin Michigan Avenue and then walked over to a small park nearby for their first look.

After the first look, we met up with the wedding party and headed to the Art Institute South Garden for photos with the party together, followed by intimate portraits of just the bride and groom together at Lurie Gardens in Millennium Park. Through all of these pictures, I was impressed with how relaxed and happy Meri and Matt remained—and that was true throughout the whole day!

The outdoor ceremony was officiated by a close friend of the family, so the entire ceremony was filled with that added personal touch. From the moment Meri walked down the classic stairs in the back of the Chicago History Museum, you could feel the love emanating from every corner. It felt so real, bringing everyone in attendance to laughter as well as tears as we watched these two say their “I do”s.

That same obvious love flowed through the reception as well, with moving toasts centered on the kind hearts that both Meri and Matt share. By the time the band started up and everyone danced the night away, I felt like I had come away from the whole day having witnessed something truly touching.

Matt & Meri, thank you for asking me to be part of your amazing celebration of love, family, and friendship. I loved every moment spent with you and your loved ones and hope that you will cherish these images for years to come!
