Chicago Wedding Photographer | Planning a Destination Wedding

If you haven’t heard…. Cosmo and I are officially (and finally) engaged!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!! We are so, so excited and I wanted to share our lovely trip to Mexico and proposal story. We went to Mexico the first week of January to photograph a beautiful destination wedding in Mexico. The wedding was absolutely perfect and we spent one extra day at the large resort in Cabo to relax by the pool. After we check out of the hotel, we picked up our rental Jeep Wrangler and headed up the coast to a small fishing and kitesurfing town called Los Barriles.

Once we got into the town we checked into the house we were renting… seen above. It was located on the side of an arroyo that and overlooked the beautiful Sea of Cortez. We went into town and had a delicious taco lunch. Since it was still pretty early in the day we decided to jump in the jeep and drive up the arroyo to a small waterfall. It was probably the most exciting drive of our lives, haha! You just pick a dirt path and drive, there are bumps, dips and rocks, really quite fun when it wasn’t too scary 😉 We went for a little walk up to the waterfall and after a few minutes Cosmo was off rock climbing followed by a cannonball  into the chilly water.

We headed back to the jeep and I told him that I wanted a picture with us in the canyon with the car. I set my camera up on a rock and set the self-timer. There were a couple photos taken, but right after the first one he got down on one knee and asked me to love him forever. I, of course, said yes. Well, at first I didn’t say anything because there were so many happy tears… but I think he knew they meant yes!!! We drove home and played rummy, then went to a celebratory dinner with the best sunset of our trip.

The rest of the trip was full of adventure too. We drove explored Los Barriles and the surrounding areas and went fishing two days (we got up at 5:30AM and got back at noon). We caught a lot of fish and Cosmo even caught a 35 pound shark! Our boat captain, Lavo, filleted them for us and we ate the freshest most delicious crudo ever!

Our final mexican sunrise was so beautiful, it convinced us to return to Los Barriles for our destination wedding in Mexico on March 13, 2015! I am so excited to offer new clients a limited time special because I got engaged this month and am wedding planning bliss =) I am offering all new wedding clients a $450 gift check that can be used towards booking and upgrades. If you are interested in booking your wedding send me an email at info@julia-franzosa.com ASAP because this offer is only valid for weddings booked by March 13, 2014…
