Chicago Photographer | Family First… Always.

I am so excited to finally share these images from my recent trip to visit my Nana in Oregon. I was planning on blogging them so long ago… but you know sometimes life just flies by. Nana invited me to come spend a long weekend with her in Oregon and the question was when, not if I wanted to go. It was so, so exciting that I was going to be able to spend some one on one time with my amazing grandmother. Seriously, she is definitely one of my favorite people ever – and she is hilarious. We basically cooked, ate, played cards, and knitted all weekend long.

We went to Nana’s favorite restaurant with one of her friends for lunch… Speaking of her friends, she is probably the most friendly and popular almost 88 year old I know (actually she is the only almost 88 year old I know.) She is probably more socially active then I am! 😉 Anyways, back to the restaurant, it is called Gathering Together Farm and it is AMAZING!!! Their menu is always changing because the produce comes straight from their own farm (where the restaurant is located).

Not only did we eat at some yummy restaurants during my stay, Nana also taught me some easy recipes so that I can start cooking more and get back on track with my 2013 goals. We also made bread… from scratch… with our hands… AND it was so delicious!!! I also learned to knit again, she had taught me once but it was so long ago I needed a refresher.

My favorite part of this trip was when Nana pulled out her iPad and we looked through hundreds of old photos. Photos from her childhood, teenage years, wedding, and crazy times raising five children into adulthood. It was a beautiful thing to be able to share in these moments and memories that my grandmother has. And it is a huge part of why I am a photographer. It is about family, moments, connections, and love. A photo may be instantly beautiful but in 20 years the photo above will probably be one of my most prized possessions. Nana, I love you so much and I can’t wait to see you again!!! xoxo
